Hedonic adaptation is the process of which your mind, body, emotions, and thought patterns return back to a level of equilibrium.
Your emotional threshold isn't made to operate at maximum all the time. If it did you would probably die from a heart attack. Being constantly in fight or flight mode isn't something where made for and in fact it's the reason why society has organized and come up with rules. It's because our minds and bodies were not made or shall I say prefer to always be watching our back.
This process of returning back to normal after periods of good things or of periods of extreme abuse is our emotional threshold normalizing stimulation and the situations. Constant fluctuations between this sort of behavioral pattern in captive situations eventually leads to something called Stockholm syndrome, where if you can't beat, you join them.
Your brain wants to return to a state of relative civility so if abuse is constantly coming at you, you will just either ignore it or succumb to your abusers.
In the case of Cointelpro 2.0 style torture, you're going to have to get used to being constantly uncomfortable, or under attack using radiation and other invisible forms of abuse that utilize the electromagnetic spectrum, pharmaceutical drugs being slipped in your food, emotional abuse from strangers, and the federal government going through your life with a fine-tooth comb turning every molehill into a mountain and having to deal with the stress and repercussions.
Because of this constant abuse and upheaval of your life, you might develop a "Fuck It" sort of mentality, or maybe not fight back and pretend the abuse just didn't happen so you can go on to living like you have before.
This is a secret weapon in the abuse cycle. To get you to eventually give up and just shut up and die quietly.
Any friends or support that you get to keep fighting is a godsend and anyone willing to support you going through this through by any means necessary really is a blessing. You can only hope that you have some people around you who understand, if not this makes fighting back COINTELPRO 2.0 abuse even harder to battle.
As the abuse happens your frequency to return back to a state of equilibrium emotionally will get shorter and shorter. Eventually you'll just become calloused to it and for people who are under COINTELPRO 2.0 style torture for years on end can be getting exposed to unhealthy radiation, air, tainted food, physical abuse, financial pressure, excetera and a thin veil of denial will be veneered over your personality to help you maintain not lashing out and losing decorum.
This is a hard uphill battle, sometimes you need a reminder to keep fighting, it's not because you don't care about your abuse it's because this process is meant to wear you down like a coastline cliff, and the COINTELPRO 2.0 torture is the tide.
